New Delhi: The trial run of India's first driver-less metro train was conducted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday.
The trial run was flagged off by Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The trial was conducted from Delhi Metro's new Mukundpur depot to Majlis Park.
Soon after inaugurating the India's first driver-less metro train, Naidu tweeted, "The new trains put on trials today, will run from Majlis Park – Shiv Vihar and Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden."

Delhi Metro has become environment friendly. Launched a new substation at Mukundpur equipped with solar power and rain water harvesting facility. This is a role model for others. I would like to congratulate Delhi Metro and to the citizens of Delhi, Naidu's another tweet reads.

The average speed of the new train would be 37-38 km per hour, compared to 30-32 km per hour now.
The trains would generate electricity even when brakes are applied, enabling the air-conditioning system to keep working.
