The four-member Central team from Cauvery Monitoring Committee, Central water Commission and Agriculture Department led by chief engineer Jacob inspected the KRS command area in police cover here on Friday.
“We have observed a few problems. We will submit the facts to the government on October 11,” said Jacob.
However, he clarified it is upto the Cauvery River Authority to decide on reviewing its decision.
The team that arrived in a helicopter began its tour from Mahadevapura through Daripura, Kari Gatta, Baburayana Koppal in Sriranagapatna, parts of Pandvapura and K R Pet taluk to take stock of the ground situation.
When reporters said the water level will come down in reservoirs if the irrigation officials continue to release 9,000 cusecs of water till October 20, Jacob refused to comment and said that the team would give a clear picture of the Cauvery basin.
However, on hydro power generation coming to halt due to shortage of water, Jacob said that the team had also viewed drought-hit areas in parts of Maddur, Mandya and Malavalli taluks of Mandya district.
They also stopped at four places and inspected transplanted paddy and sugar cane grown in achkat.
They sought the details of the tenure of crop, requirement of water for the next two months and other factors.
They also had a view of the 12,000 cusecs of water released from Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir to Tamil Nadu.
The team spoke to Cauvery Niravari Nigam officials and engineers before leaving for Mandya.
The Central team that will camp in Mysore and visit Rajaparameshwari achkat command, Kabini achkat at Muguru, Hullahalli anecut command and Kabini achkat at Nanjangud on Saturday will also inspect Harangi command in Hunsur and K R Nagar, command of Hemavathy project, SRD anecut command and Hemavathy project command area in Channapatna.
The team will also discuss with officials about irrigation, agriculture officers take note of cultivation areas, deficit rainfall, storage capacity in all the four reservoirs, inflow and outflow.
With the farmers continuing agitation , the police department deputed hundreds of policemen on the route that the Central team took to visit villages.
Gowda meets team
Cauvery River Protection Committee chairman G Made Gowda met the Central Team and apprised them of the crop pattern, availability of water, prevailing drought and plight of the farmers.
Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and legislators from Mandya and Mysore district met the Central Team and told that the further release of water to Tamil Nadu will lead to acute drinking water crisis in Bangalore, Mysore and other urban pockets.
