New Delhi: Within three months of the previous version of Firefox, Mozilla Labs has released a new version 5.0 of the web browser.
In its efforts to move ahead in the battle of the browsers, Mozilla had shifted to a "a rapid release development cycle" to ensure new features, enhancements, security updates and stability improvements for its Firefox browser at a faster pace.
According to Mozilla the latest version of the browser includes more than 1,000 improvements and performance enhancements. In this release Mozilla also includes Do Not Track to the Android version of the browser making it the first browser to feature the privacy feature on multiple platforms. With Do Not Track enabled users can opt out of online behavioural tracking used by many websites.
There are no major noticeable differences in the user interface in Firefox 5 as most of the upgrades are related to performance enhancement.
The Internet browser market is led by Microsoft's Internet Explorer, followed by Firefox, which is a distant second. Google Chrome is making rapid strides with rapid releases. Firefox is attempting to secure and better its position with more frequent updates.
