Mumbai: Four members of a family were found dead in a flat in Wadala in south central Mumbai on Monday, police said.

Police said that preliminary reports suggest that they died after consuming poison and that it was possibly a case of suicide. However, police have not ruled out a murder angle as no suicide note was found from the house.

The deceased are Donato Anthony, 47, his wife Lizzy, 42, and two children Jason, 12, and Babit, 4.

"The incident was reported by Donato's brother. On Friday, Donato had asked him to come to collect the fish tank as they were moving to another location. When his brother went to the flat on Monday, a foul stench made him suspicious," Additional Commissioner of Police Praveen Salunkhe told IANS.

"Donato's brother had a spare key and when he opened the door, he found the four lying in the bedroom with black plastic bags wrapped around their faces. Other than that, there were no signs of a struggle in the flat," he added.

The family had rented the flat over a year ago and it seemed normal for the brother that they were moving to another location, police said. However, Donato had not said where he was moving.
