The flood fury in Mahanadi and other major rivers in the later half of the year wreaked havoc in Odisha submerging villages spread over 19 districts and leaving many dead. Road communication was snapped and several regions completely marooned.Frames capturing these flood-ravaged regions of Odisha and its people after the devastation are on show at ‘The Nature’s Fury’, a four-day photo exhibition that started at Jaydev Bhawan on Tuesday. On display are rare photographs on flood  in different districts, people surviving the deluge and the life after. The photographs have been captured by lensman Jitendra  Mohanty over a month in the worst-affected districts and chronicles the lives of the traditionally marginalised people and their response to the new challenges brought by the  deluge. He says the exhibition is a homage to those who died and the lakhs of people who survived but are dying to find a way to re-build their lives.“The exhibition is also aimed at preserving a record of the disaster, focusing on the empathy and assistance that people showed one another as it unfolded,” he adds. As many as 80 photographs of flood-ravaged districts of the State are being displayed. Some photographs also depict the rehabilitation work by many social organisations during the worst situation.
