A free diabetes screening and awareness camp was conducted for the Indian Coast Guard Region (East) by the MV Hospital for Diabetes in which more than 80 Coast Guard employees took part. Tests including height, weight, waist measurements, body mass index, blood pressure recording, cholesterol, urea creatinine, HbA1c, random blood sugar testing were done. Experts also gave advice on dietary regulations.
The camp was inaugurated by YC Tyagi, Deputy Inspector General, Indian Coast Guard Region (East) and felicitated by Dr Vijay Viswanathan, chief Diabetologist of MV Hospital for Diabetes. Dr Vijay Viswanathan spoke on the occasion and gave an awareness lecture on “Preventing Diabetes and other Lifestyle Related Disorders”.
