New Delhi: Actor-director Makarand Deshpande says it is more important to put his heart into whatever he does, instead of doing anything with an intent to make a lot of money. Deshpande has now come up with his new film 'Sona Spa'.
"I am very happy the kind of films I am doing these days. My ambition is not to make Rs 100 crore films. I want to put life into all my films," he told IANS in an interview.
'Sona Spa' is produced by Miraj Entertainment and it deals with the story of buying sleep. Releasing on March 22, it features Naseeruddin Shah in the lead.
The 62-year-old plays Baba Dayanand, who runs the spa in the Makrand Deshpande film. "It was the desire to be part of this project and not the role. It's not a great role. It was not the most challenging. I believe actors are remembered not by how good and skilful they were but by films."
He further said, "I am at a stage of my career where I want to enjoy the work that I do. And that is my dream. I want that to happen more than anything else. As a result, in three years I have done four years. Some of them did not do well but I enjoyed doing them," he said.
The film is based on a Hindi play, written and directed by Deshpande himself and brings the serious issue of lack of sleep due to various reasons resulting in a unhealthy and tiring life.
The film also stars Aahana Kumrah, Shruti Vyas, Pooja Pradhan, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Vinit Sharma, Romi Jaispal.
"The film is about a world which is full of fame, glamour and money but it lacks sleep. At 'Sona Spa' one can buy sleep anytime, day or night," director Deshpande said. (With inputs from IANS and PTI)
