CHITTOOR: ‘Apasruthi’ occurred at the ‘Pattu Vastra Samarpana’ by minister of mines and geology Galla Aruna Kumari to Lord Varasiddhi Vinayaka at Kanipakam temple on Thursday on the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi. The minister forgot to leave her footwear and took the Vastrams on her head wearing them till the Mahadwaram and even tried to cross it, but at the last minute was alerted by others, that she was still wearing slippers. She immediately, left them outside, seeking forgiveness of the Lord Ganesh and the temple priests for the lapse.Later, along with her husband she offered Vastrams to the presiding deity praying for the well being of all.Speaking on the occasion, she said it has been a practice for her to offer prayers at Kanipakam temple for long and for the past eight years, she has been offering pattu vastrams on behalf of the state government to the Lord on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi.Later, the minister performed bhumi puja for the VIP guest house and assured to ensure more funds from the state government for the proposed Mahaprakaram of the temple.Later, she also participated in the Yagam performed on the occasion.Meanwhile, supporters of Puttalapattu MLA Ravi (now a YSR Congress party leader) raised slogans against the minister and the temple executive officer for violating protocol. They said the temple management had forgotten to invite the local MLA, only because he had resigned from the ruling party.Ironically, his photo was printed on the posters of Kanipakam Brahmotsavams brought out by the temple management.Even temple executive officer E Srinivasa Rao participated in the rituals wearing trouser and shirt instead of Dhothi and upper cloth as required. When eyebrows were raised and people asked him about the lapse, he hurriedly went out and wore a dhoti and took part in the Puja.Meanwhile, the devotees, who were waiting in the queue for darshan became restless, which apparently irritated temple inspector Balaji Naidu. He allegedly behaved rudely with the devotees resulting in an argument. However, normalcy returned with the intervention of the temple superintendent. The turnout of pilgrims this evening was less compared to the previous year.
