Opposition leader Siddaramaiah has urged Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to gear up for a legal battle against Tamil Nadu.
He accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa of politicising the Cauvery issue.
He said that Tamil Nadu has the Mettur dam with 47 tmc ft water but it still demanded water from the state when it is short of 75 tmc ft in the Cauvery basin.
He told reporters here on Sunday that there will be water scarcity in Bangalore, Mysore and four more districts in the next couple of months.
The state should apprise the court that Tamil Nadu has two more rainy seasons but there is no scope for rains in Karnataka, he added.He also appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to review his decision based on the ground situation.
He clarified that Union Minister M Veerappa Moily has not defended the PM’s statement directing to release 10,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.
