Chandigarh: Jeev Milkha Singh has had a great year on the professional front, reaching a career high ranking and winning four tournaments. But there is little celebration on at home in Chandigarh, even after his return because personal tragedy has overshadowed all the success.

For followers of Indian golf, the most compelling images over the past few months have been those of Jeev Milkha Singh as he travelled from tour to tour winning title after title.

However, one triumph was the most touching of all. It came last week in Japan in the same week as a devastating personal tragedy, his wife Kudrat had delivered a stillborn child. Jeev didn't even want to play, but Kudrat insisted and the rest as they say history.

Coming after the earlier wins at the Bank of Austria Open, the Sega Sammy Cup and the Singapore Open, this title just reiterates the great form Jeev has been in through the year. A form that made him the first player to earn a million dollars in a year and carried him to a career-high 36th spot on the world rankings.

But not the one to sit back, relax and bask in the glory of an eventful year, India's Super Singh now heads to Thailand for the Volvo Masters of Asia, and a win here will ensure the festivities continue at the Milkha household.
