A government advocate was caught by the Lokayukta sleuths on Thursday for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a rape accused for absolving him from the charge in the court.
Additional Government Prosecutor (AGP) Sambhajirao Gavde had demanded Rs 25,000 from the accused, Dilip Choudhary, Lokayukta sources said.
Choudhry, hailing from Bachanpur village, was booked under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC, and is currently out on bail. On a tip-off, Lokayukta sleuths laid a trap and caught Gavde from a tea shop in the court premises when he was accepting the bribe money.
The cash was recovered from Gavde's pocket, sources said, adding a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him in this regard.
