BANGALORE: Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad has demanded a thorough and fool-proof enquiry into the fire incident in BBMP office which is suspected to have burnt vital documents pertaining to a multicrore scam. “The manner in which the fire has gutted the documents and the quickness with which it spread indicates that it cannot be a mere short circuit but a deliberate act by vested interests. I demand a thorough enquiry into the incident,” Hari Prasad said while speaking to reporters here on Saturday. Expressing shock and surprise over the casualness and slow pace of reaction of the BBMP and the State government towards such a huge incident, the Congress leader said, “It looks like that the ruling party is not interested in getting the truth unearthed and arrest the culprits. I urge the members of the BBMP cutting across the party lines to demand a probe into the incident.” He also alleged that there has been a scandal to the tune of `1,500 crore with respect to solid waste management and garbage clearance and demanded an inquiry into it. “Former CM B S Yeddyurappa has been repeatedly claiming that the government has undertaken a number of development activities. But the state of roads and drainage in city speaks volumes of the so called development,” he added.
