Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday claimed that he had spent his entire MPLAD funds received over the past five years on development projects in his Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency.
Refuting newspaper reports in Dehradun that he had spent only 71.76 per cent of his MPLAD (Members of Parliament Local Area Development) funds, Rawat said he had recommended to the concerned authorities that cent per cent of the funds be spent.
The figure being given by the newspapers is that of the amount spent so far but the Chief Minister has cleared expenditure of his whole MPLAD funds with a direction to the nodal District Magistrate that they be spent over a period of time on development works in his constituency, Rawat's media in-charge and Congress spokesman Surendra Kumar said quoting the Chief Minister.
