A single bench headed by Justice V Jagannathan has granted conditional bail to Telgi after hearing a petition by him seeking bail on his deteriorating health and immobility.During the hearing counsel for the petitioner M T Nanaiah submitted that apart from kidney disease, Telgi suffers from druginduced allergic interstitial nephritis and also has exophytic cyst in the left kidney; He is suffering from AIDS and hypothyroidism since 2001 as per the report submitted by medical board of Victoria Hospital.

He has been suffering from 14 diseases and is on medication and no proper care has been given to him by the prison authorities. "Every day he consumes 14 pills and takes one injection," submitted Nanaiah.

Pointing out the deaths of some prisoners due to bad health, Nanaiah said that the petitioner should be allowed to live with his wife and children at least now.

When the counsel for the prosecution submitted that he is responsible for the multi crore stamp paper scam which led to the loss of crores of rupees to the exchequer and 48 cases are pending before various courts in the country, the court refused to buy the argument as counsel Nanaiah mentioned about the period the petitioner has been in jail.
