The announcement of a 32 km Greenfield Expressway from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh to Palwal in Haryana marks a significant development in regional infrastructure. The tendering process for this ambitious project, which aims to improve connectivity between Aligarh and the National Capital Region (NCR), has already begun.
Expressway Routes and Connections
– Key Junctions: The expressway will connect to the Yamuna Expressway at Tappal and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Palwal.
– Improved Access: After the construction of the expressway, travellers from Aligarh will be able to access major cities like Agra, Mathura, Delhi, Greater Noida, Noida, Palwal and Gurugram more easily.
Traffic Easement:
Motorists in Noida and Gurugram will benefit significantly as they will experience less congestion in areas like Khair and Jattari.

Land Acquisition and Affected Villages
Impact of Land Acquisition: The project requires land acquisition of 43 Aligarh villages.
Affected Villages: Major villages include Andla, Arrana, Jarara and many more where GPS markings have already been done for land acquisition.
Highlighting the importance of the greenfield expressway, Apoorva Dubey, Vice Chairman of Aligarh Development Authority, said, “This is the most important plan in the Master Plan 2031. It will accelerate development in the region and improve connectivity.”
The construction of the expressway will revolutionise Aligarh’s connectivity with the NCR. It will not only facilitate access to important projects like the Defence Corridor and Transport Nagar but will also support the establishment of the Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University and further improve the infrastructure of Greater Aligarh. Also, improvements in the Aligarh-Khair road are expected to progress rapidly.
