BANGALORE: Former Karnataka Lokayukta and member of the joint drafting committee on the Lokpal Bill, Justice Santosh Hegde on Friday distanced himself from Team Anna by saying that he did not approve of their “undemocratic” methods in “having their way’’.He also told Express that he had doubts on whether he was still a member of Team Anna.“Sometimes, I wonder if I am in or out,’’ he said, adding that he was against forcing Parliament to function according to one’s whims and fancies.“I support Anna on the Lokpal Bill. This does not mean that I support whatever he does,’’ Hegde said.Asked whether Team Anna in Delhi had distanced itself from him after he made an appeal to keep the Prime Minister and the higher judiciary out of the purview of the Lokpal Bill, the former Lokayukta said: “There are 10 differences between our team and the government. The government is projecting only two issues — keeping the PM and the judiciary out of the Bill.My statement was that if the government agreed to accept eight demands, I had said I would convince my team to agree to it.“But the government is playing a dirty game by stating that they have agreed to 50 of the 52 demands,’’ he said and added that he wanted to challenge the government by offering to convince Team Anna to keep the PM and the judiciary out of Lokpal Bill.
