UDUPI : Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has promised Saalu Marada Thimmakka, an octogenarian environmentalist, to set up a government hospital in her native place in Maagadi taluk, to fulfil her long pending wish.Gowda made this announcement through his recorded voice, played at a function organised to confer Dr Shivaram Karanth Huttoora Prashasthi to Saalu Marada Thimmakka.The chief minister also promised to construct a house for her in Bangalore, to bear all her medical expenses, create a fund by depositing Rs. 5 lakh, through the interest of which she can can lead a happy life.Presenting Dr Shivaram Karantha Huttoora Prashasthi to Saalu Marada Thimmakka, Minister for Panchayathraj and Rural Development Jagadish Shettar said that government has agreed in principle to decentralise power and empower the local bodies by implementing the recommendations of the Third Finance Commission.
