BHUBANESWAR: An autorickshaw driver was arrested along with two of his family members for allegedly strangulating his wife in Chilipokhari slums under Badagarh Police limits. The woman, Chinmanyi Sahoo, died in a private hospital on Wednesday night. Police have arrested the deceased’s husband Jyoti Ranjan Sahoo, mother Shantilata and an uncle in this connection.On Tuesday night, neighbours of Sahoo found Chinmayi in a distressed condition. She had apparently been strangulated with her saree. In fact, her one and a half years old son, who was at home, drew attention of the neighbours.Chinmayi was rushed to Vivekananda Hospital but died on Wednesday evening. Her body could be released only a day later after the fees of the hospital was arranged by the family members of the deceased.Police investigation revealed that Jyoti had married Chinmayi two years back. He is a rogue, drunkard and always abused his wife. On Tuesday, he is alleged to have throttled his wife.On Wednesday, another autorickshaw driver had attempted to kill his wife by throwing her off a three-storey building in Gauri Nagar area of the City. The woman, luckily, survived.
