HUBLI: Vishweshwa Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Pejawar Mutt categorically stated on Thursday that he was not mediating between Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy over swearing before Sri Manjunatheshwara at Dharmasthala, but said he had just given them a suggestion.
The Pejawar seer, who was here on Thursday to participate in a religious programme, told reporters: "Swearing before God is not proper in politics and in a democratic setup. Politicians should not indulge in this. I have informed the two leaders that no knowledgeable person would resort to such behaviour.He advised them to behave according to democratic principles as they are public figures. Kumaraswamy has assured that if Yeddyurappa did not go to Dharmasthala on June 27, he too would not go.
