IIMK to set up satellite campus in Kochi

KOCHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode is setting up its satellite campus in Kochi. The new campus will offer full-time and part-time programmes targeting middle and senior-level executives.It’s the only IIM in the country with an internationally accredited Executive Management Education Programme. The satellite campus will be initially housed within the Infopark and will focus primarily on executive education - both long-term and short-term as well as specialised courses for executives in the IT sector. Initially, the satellite centre will offer a one-year executive MBA programme as well as two-year part-time programme in addition to a couple of short-term courses in Management Development.“With its satellite campus in Kochi, IIM Kozhikode plans to support the growth and development of business and industry in the region. Since it is located inside the Infopark, it will directly help the executives at the park to improve their management skills,” said a press release.In addition to the executive training and education programmes, the satellite campus will also support IIMK’s mission of inclusive education. “The institute is planning to incubate a finishing school to offer specialised programmes for people from marginalised sections of society. However, it will be done once the full-fledged campus is functional at Kochi,” the press release said. The initial facility inside Kochi Infopark is expected to be functional by Oct 2012. The full campus is expected to be complete within three years.
