BANGALORE: After focusing on the first phase of illegal mining during the tenure of former chief minister B S Yedduyurappa, founder and president of Dharwad-based Samaj Parivartan Samudaya (SPS) S R Hiremath, on Wednesday said that the fight against illegal mining has moved into its second phase.He alleged that former minister and Congress MLA D K Shivakumar too was involved in illegal mining in Karnataka.Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Hiremath said he will be filing an Interlocutory Application (IA) in the Supreme Court along with documentary evidence against Shivakumar.Claiming that DKS was involved illegalities, irregularities and criminalities during the period 2000-05, Hiremath said, “Under the guise of purchasing low grade iron ore and iron-ore mud, Shivakumar had purchased 900,000 metric tonnes of high grade iron ore from Mysore Minerals Limited (MML) at a price of `15-25 per metric tonnes.”Hiremath also alleged that Shivakumar later sold the high grade ironore through eight iron ore trading companies. “We will file an IA in the SC in the first week of July”. He also alleged that Shivakumar had written a letter to B S Yeddyurappa in November 2009 and insisting him to withdraw forest offense cases against his brother D K Suresh and wife Usha.”Hiremath further said that he will be submitting fresh evidences to the CBI against Yeddyurappa in over 80 land denotification cases. These evidences were unearthed by National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) study team.
