Suhag took charge as the Chief of 1.3 million strong Indian Army on Thursday from General Bikram Singh on Thursday.
New Delhi: India's response to any beheading-like incident would be more than adequate, intense and immediate, said Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag as he assumed office on Friday.
Suhag took charge as the Chief of 1.3 million strong Indian Army on Thursday from General Bikram Singh who retired after a career spanning over 42 years. Suhag, who was Vice Chief of the Army Staff will have a tenure of 20 months.
Suhag was appointed by the previous UPA government amidst opposition from the BJP and former army chief and now minister of state - General VK Singh. The Modi government though chose to stay with the decision on the appointment of Suhag.
