BANGALORE: If all goes well, the feasible study that has been conducted for a power grid project, between Sri Lanka and India will take off in the near future.Addressing the media here on Saturday Prasad Kariyawasam, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India said, “We have agreed in principle to build a power grid between India and Sri Lanka, that will benefit both the countries.Surplus power will be shared between Sri Lanka and India and vice versa.” He further added that Sri Lanka is looking at wind power and is also a good location for coal power plants.Kariyawasam was in Bangalore to confer the appointment of Dr K Sudhakar who was honoured with the office of Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka.Kariyawasam said that Karnataka and Sri Lanka have certain similarities, the people are friendly and the climate is good.He also said that there is a great potential between Karnataka and Sri Lanka to grow exponentially.In the near future, Sri Lanka is most likely looking at introducing an online visa that will be pre-approved, as opposed to the visa on arrival in Sri Lanka said Kariyawasam
