The City Police here on Sunday arrested two persons, including the son-in-law of the deceased, in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old retired cooperative staff in Ramanathapuram two weeks ago.
On September 28, retired co-operative manager R Nagarajan was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his house in Ramakrishnapuram locality. Police said that he was gagged with a cloth.Nagarajan lived with his daughter S Abirami and son-in-law N Sivasakthivel (34), a real estate businessman. Around 3 pm on Sept 28, the couple left for Guruvayur and returned home at 9 pm to discover Nagarajan dead in the kitchen.
After a thorough investigation, the Ramanathapuram police arrested Nagarajan’s son-in-law Sivasakthivel and his friend A Ruban from Kanagalakshmipuram in Vellalore on Sunday.
“Sivasakthivel thought the presence of Nagarajan was a disturbance to his personal life as the latter was awake till late night doing his work and watching movies in the desktop computer in the two-room house. So, he decided to murder Nagarajan with the help of his friend Ruban,” police said.
