A protest by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat in Dehradun took a violent turn when MLA Ganesh Joshi attacked a police horse deployed in security.

A scuffle had started, during which Ganesh Joshi, the sitting legislator from Mussoorie, was seen striking at the legs of a police mount with a stick. Doctors said the horse's leg would have to be amputated.
