HYDERABAD: A 12-member delegation of Markazi Majllis-e-Quadria (MMQ), a Hyderabad-based Islamic organisation, met chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office here on Thursday and submitted a representation deploring the `derogatory’ comments made by Bangladeshi writer in exile Taslima Nasrin on some Islamic rituals. According the religious scholars, Nasrin made ‘hate comments’ on rituals like Haj and Holy Kaaba on the social networking site, Twitter, last week.Recently, she had also tweeted about Muslim women which turned controversial, they said.The delegation demanded non-renewal of the writer’s visa and her deportation from the country for continuously hurting the sentiments of minorities.They also requested the chief minister to pursue the matter with the ministry of Union home and external affairs ministries.Reddy, according to MMQ president Maulana Mumshed Pasha, assured to examine the representation for forwarding it to the Centre.The 49-year-old Muslim woman writer has been in the thick of controversies for her remarks against and criticism of Islamist fundamentalism.She was banished from Bangladesh and has been living in various countries in exile since 1994.She was given asylum in India in 2004 and is currently living in Delhi.She is also closely related to Hyderabad in a very infamous way.On Aug 9, 2007, she was here to release the Telugu translation of one of her novels, Shodh and was attacked by a mob of violent intruders led by AIMIM at the Hyderbad Press Club
