Visakhapatnam: Former Congress MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said he would undertake a one-day fast in Delhi on January 11 to highlight the sufferings of farmers of Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan, who resumed his Odarpu yatra in Visakhapatnam district on Monday, announced that he would hold the fast in Delhi along with the MLAs and MPs who are ready to support him.
He demanded that the Centre come to the rescue of farmers who suffered heavy losses due to frequent heavy rains and cyclones.
Jagan had undertaken a fast for 48 hours in Vijayawada last month demanding higher compensation for rain-hit farmers.
He also met Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar last week in Delhi and sought better relief package for farmers.
Meanwhile, Jagan would console 18 families during his 10-day tour of Visakhapatnam district and unveil about 100 statues of YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
This the first Odarpu yatra of Jagan after he quit as Lok Sabha member and the Congress last month.
Defying the party high command s directives, Jagan had earlier undertaken his odarpu yatra in West Godavari, Khammam, Srikakulam, East Godavari, Prakasam and Nellore districts.
