Jallikattu: Show of valour in Sooriyur

TIRUCHY: It was a showcase of strength and valour between 101 men and 130 bulls amidst tight security and safety arrangements as per the government norms at jallikattu held in Sooriyur here on Monday.  Three spectator sustained severe injury while seven tamers sustained minor injuries. Jallikattu was held in Sooriyur on Monday and participants and spectators flocked the venue. In all, 130 bulls participated in the event. More than 5,000 visitors from across the State and abroad witnessed the event. Three spectators — B Sanjeevi (35), P Rajesh (29) and A Periyasamy (55) — sustained injury and were rushed to the government hospital for treatment. Bull tamers J Mahesh (22) of Thanjavur, R Vinoth (27) of Nathamadipatti, G Vignesh of Keezha Chindamani, N Ramesh (30) of Thuvakudi, and B Durairaj (25) of Sooriyur sustained minor injury. They were administered first aid by the Tiruverumbur taluk medical team.
