Sopore: Three people have been injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire outside a telecom outlet in Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir. DGM BSNL has confirmed that two people are critical and have been shifted to Medical college in Srinagar.
Investigation into the matter is currently underway. Police is not ruling out the involvement of the telecom company's staff.
A little known terror outfit called Lashkar-e-Islam had, a few days back, pasted posters warning people dealing with the telecom business to shut down their operations immediately.
Earlier in May, Guerrillas had threatened cell phone service providers in Sopore of dire consequences after an equipment installed purportedly by the guerrillas on Badami Bagh cell phone tower in Sopore town was removed.
The equipment had reportedly been installed by the guerrillas to improve their communication system since the tower provided a vantage position. Police confirmed that they had seized unlawful equipment two days back.
