Chhindwara: Strong winds and rains disrupted a function which Union Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath was to attend on Tuesday and forced him to seek shelter in a municipal building at Amarwada, about 65 kms away from the district headquarters.
Nath arrived in Amarwada to lay the foundation stone of an irrigation project in the area, police sources said. Soon after he reached the dais, strong winds and rains started after which tents erected over the audience area and the podium were blown away.
He rushed to a nearby municipal building to take refuge, they said. Later, when the weather settled, Nath went back to Chhindwara in his helicopter.
