On the eve of the Telangana March, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been camping in Delhi for 22 days holding confabulations with the Congress high command, called on AICC leader in charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday and held discussions with him for over an hour.
Sources in the TRS divulged that Rao once again tried to convince the AICC general secretary on the need for according statehood to his region. The TRS chief, who is understood to have expressed his willingness to merge his party with the Congress in the event of a favourable decision from the Centre on Telangana, told Azad that except statehood no other solution such as a financial package would be acceptable to the people of the region.
The TRS chief has been meeting AICC functionaries one after another in a bid to convince them on his demand. AICC emissary to the state Vayalar Ravi and AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes were some of the other top leaders whom the TRS president had met recently.
