Bengaluru: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's insulin dosage has been reduced, and his sugar level and cough has come down, a senior doctor treating him at the naturopathy institute in Bengaluru said on Tuesday.
"He is responding well, insulin dosage has been reduced and his sugar level and cough has reduced now compared to what it was before," Dr Babina Nandakumar, Chief Medical Officer at Jindal Nature Cure Institute on city outskirts, said.
Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor, had left for Bengaluru for treatment on March 5, a day after the ouster of party leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav from the party's Political Affairs Committee.
He will undergo naturopathy treatment for 10 days as he suffers from high sugar level and chronic cough.
Incidentally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also asked Kejriwal to consult a yoga therapist in Bengaluru for his persistent cough during the Delhi Police's 'At Home' function a couple of weeks ago.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is taking care of the day-to-day affairs of the Delhi Government in his absence.
Kejriwal's sugar level remained above 300 for the past 10 days. Doctors increased the insulin dose three-fold and intake of other medicines by up to two-fold but despite that, cough has worsened and sugar levels continued to remain on the higher side, sources close to Kejriwal said.
The cough had worsened during the hectic Delhi election campaign. Kejriwal suffers from chronic allergic cough. The dust and pollutants he inhaled while addressing over 110 jan sabhas in the city made things worse.
