Amidst the war of words among the Congress leaders over the KPCC reshuffle, Union
Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi and KPCC former president and MLA K Muraleedharan had an hour-long discussion at the latter’s residence in Kozhikode on Saturday.
Talking to ‘Express’, Muraleedharan said the discussion was regarding the imminent re-organisation of the KPCC. “The reconstitution should be aimed at strengthening the party. It should not shrink to a mere distribution of various party posts to appease the factions within the party.
Appropriate and eligible leaders should be given party positions on the basis of merit and efficiency. There should not be any compromise in this regard,” he said.
Muraleedharan added that he and Vayalar Ravi share similar views regarding the reshuffle. “KPCC leadership is yet to hold discussions with senior party leaders of the state regarding the reshuffle.
A final decision should be taken after holding discussions with them,” he said.
He added that senior leader Mullappally Ramachandran, V M Sudheeran and P C Chacko were also against the sharing of posts on the basis of groups.
Vayalar Ravi, who reached Muraleedharan’s residence at around 8.30 am, expressed hope that the re-organisation of the KPCC would take place in a proper way.
