Kunjananthante Kada: Mammootty's next flick
Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty will make a comeback through a Mammootty film, 'Kunjananthante Kada'.

Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty will make a comeback to the Malayalam industry through a Mammootty film, 'Kunjananthante Kada' (Kunjananthan's shop). He will do sync sound for the film directed by Salim Ahammed who shot to fame with the first film 'Adaminte Makan Abu,' which surprised the entire film world with the number of recognitions it won at the national level.

This was announced at a press conference by Salim Ahammed, Resul Pookkutty and cameraman Madhu Ambatt was there on September 4.

This time, Mammotty, whose various dialects of the language from Thiruvananthpuram to Thrissur were instantaneous hits, will speak the Kannur slang, in the role of Kunjananthan, a grocery shop owner. Salim Kumar, who bagged many laurels, including the national and state film awards for the best actor for his portrayal of Abu will be part of this film, too. The film, based on a husband and wife who cannot tolerate each other in the backdrop of Kannur, will have a number of stage actors from the area. "I was ready to wait for Mammootty for even two more years, as no one else could be made into the role of Kunjananthan. Though the film tells the tale of a warring husband and wife, it sheds light on some socially relevant issues. We have not fixed the actress to play the heroine," said Salim Ahamed. This will be the first film in Malayalam in which Resul is doing synchronized sound recording or sync sound which means recording sound at the time of filming of the movie itself. He had done post-production sound designing of another Mammootty starrer 'Pazhassi Raja' and re-designed and remixed the sound of 'Adaminte Makan Abu,' when it was chosen as the Indian entry for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film last year.

Resul expressed his happiness over working with ace cameraman Madhu Ambatt and Salim Ahammed. "After watching Amaram, I was to work with Madhu Amabatt. My association with Salim started when they wanted a remixing of the sound for 'Adaminte Makan Abu'," he said. Madhu Ambatt added that a rat also will play an important role in the film.

The filming of 'Kunjananthan Kada' will begin in December in locations at Palakkad.
