VELLORE: MP Ganesamoorthy, who assumed charge as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for Vellore range on Thursday, said that his top priorities were to maintain law and order and prevent crimes in the area.“The police will maintain a cordial relationship with the public and ensure law and order,” said the new DIG who took charge from P Sakthi Velu, who was promoted as Inspector General of Police and posted to the Tamil Nadu Police Academy.The department would dedicatedly look into the problems of the public and listen to their grievances. “We will take appropriate action as per the provision of the rules and regulations to solve their problems,” said Ganesamoorthy, who was promoted as DIG from Superintendent of Police (SP) of CBCID. He started his career as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Tuticorin in 1991. He also served as SP of Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur and Dharmapuri districts.On the menace of rowdy elements and habitual offenders, the DIG said, “The department will take severe action against them.” “The public can approach the SPs of Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts with their grievances and they will take measures to solve them. If there is any delay in delivering the solution, the public can approach me and I will chip in.” he said.Shortly after assuming charge, Ganesamoorthy had a review meeting with Vellore SP A Kayalvizhi, SP of Tiruvannamalai RV Ramya Bharathi and ADSPs and DSPs in Vellore range.
