THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The leaders of tribal organisations on Saturday met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Minister for Welfare of Backward Communities P K Jayalakshmi demanding a rehabilitation package for Muthanga evictees and strengthening of Adivasi Rehabilitation Mission. Following the meeting, Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha leaders said they have urged the Chief Minister to revoke the order of the LDF Government to hand over 3500 acres of land in Aralam farm, purchased by the State Government from Central Government using money from Schedule Tribes Fund. He said that they were assured of a favorable decision. Other demands included revoking of civil cases registered against around 650 tribals who were evicted from Muthanga including women, taking action against those responsible for committing atrocities against tribals in Attappadi and granting rights for Malavettuva tribe in Kasaragod.
