Terming the police probe as "misleading", family of the woman, who was found murdered in Mohanlalganj area in Lucknow, has written a letter to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the DGP demanding a CBI inquiry in the case.
"I have sent a letter to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and DGP A L Banerjee on Tuesday demanding a CBI probe," brother-in-law of the victim told PTI.
He sat on a dharna at GPO Crossing on Wednesday to press for the demand, saying that he and his family were not satisfied with the police probe in the case.
"The police is misleading. They are saying that it is the job of a single man, but the bloodstains on the spot tell another story and points at the involvement of more than one person," he said. "We are also trying to meet the Governor for a CBI probe. I hope our demand will be accepted. We have already written a letter to the President," he added.
The father of the victim told PTI over phone from Deoria that he was not satisfied with the financial assistance given by the CM and would try to meet him with the two children of the victim. The father also said only a CBI probe could ascertain the facts behind the case and bring the guilty to book.
Meanwhile Akhilesh Yadav has announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for the family.
The 35-year-old widow from Deoria district was brutally murdered on the night of July 16 after she resisted rape bid. Guard of a private security firm, Ram Sewak Yadav (38), was arrested for the crime on July 20.
