Man charred to death in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: In a freak incident, Devan, 38, of S R V Sadanam, Thiruvananthapuram, was charred to death while attempting to immolate his relative Girija following a quarrel over financial issues, at Karukachal, near here on Sunday.     Girija, who suffered severe burns, has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital here. According to the police, Devan got trapped in the fire while trying to immolate Girija after the duo involved in a verbal duel over a financial deal. According to the police, Girija’s husband Pankajakshan had lent money to Devan for seeking employment abroad some time back. The deal turned sour when Devan refused to return the money, the police said.
