BHUBANESWAR: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raghunath Mohanty on Friday announced that the State Government would soon formulate a master plan for the development of the Gangua nullah which passes through the Bhubaneswar city.  Replying to a calling attention notice on the issue, the Minister said that steps have been initiated by the Water Resources Department for making both the sides of the 37 kilometer long nullah free from encroachment.Stating that a detailed survey of the nullah would be done soon, the Minister announced that all encroachment on both the sides will be evicted for free flow of rain water. Bhagirathi Badjena and Ashok Panda (both BJD) alleged that because of encroachment, the width of the nullah at places has shrunk to 14 meters. Besides, at several places builders have encroached land near the nullah.Describing it as a historic nullah, both the MLAs demanded that the State Government should initiate immediate action for making it encroachment free. They alleged that 88 industries have come up on the side of the nullah at different places out of which 34 industries deposit toxic material in it.
