VIJAYAWADA: With uncertainty looming large over the state's joining the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this year, the aspirants of medicine courses continued to be in confusion- whether to prepare for the EAMCET or NEET syllabus.
They are demanding the state government give a clarification over the issue at the earliest as the NEET examination is just a couple of months away."Whether it's NEET or EAMCET, we need a proper clarification so that we can prepare the syllabus accordingly," said S Bhargavi, an Intermediate second year student.
The situation has worsen after minister for health DL Raveendra Reddy made a statement that they would go to the Supreme Court, demanding the postponement of NEET in the state this year.According to information there are about 8,000 medicine aspirants in the city of which 60 per cent are studying in government colleges.Speaking to Express, GV Rao, principal of Sri Chaitanya College at Benz circle, said that as many as 300 students of the institute were preparing for medicine courses of which 75 were preparing for national level entrance tests like JIPMER, AIIMS and AFMC.The students who are studying in corporate colleges may not face more trouble as they are preparing for both the syllabi. But, the students of government colleges will be in deep trouble, if they have to write the NEET this year as there is none to guide them in preparing for a new syllabus in couple of months.
