New Delhi: Known best for his 'rock-biker-stud' look, Rannvijay Singh will be seen in a sweet, geeky role in his first solo release – ‘Mod’.
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, ‘Mod’ is a love story. As Rannvijay says, this is a genre that Kukunoor is tackling for the first time. In all his earlier movies, love has been a part of the main story – it has never been the central theme.
Talking about his role in ‘Mod’, Rannvijay said that he would be seen playing an avatar which has not been associated with him as yet. Thanks to MTV Roadies, where he is the anchor, Rannvijay is known for attitude he carries through the show. He is the ‘ideal’ Roadie, the bike-loving, task-acing daredevil.
But in ‘Mod’ he is the romantic hero in an unusual love story. He’s geeky, he is nice and he wears glasses. Clearly not the Rannvijay we know. But with the kind of female following he has – who would not want to see his romantic side?
Speaking about the movie, Rannvijay said that they finished the shooting in 42 days flat. The movie hits the screens on October 14th, and it is eagerly awaited.
In his first movie as a hero, Rannvijay is full praises for Kukkunoor and Ayesha Takia. He said that Kukunoor was extremely precise and meticulous in his work. And since he was an actor himself – Kukunoor has the capacity to express himself beautifully.
So how was the experience shooting with such a meticulous director? "It is easier working with Raghu and Rajiv…" jokes Rannvijay.
The first ‘Roadie’ to win the reality show that has reached its successful 9th season, Rannvijay is the anchor of the show as well as a part of the judging panel for the auditions with Raghu and Rajiv.
He stepped in to Bollywood with movies like ‘Toss: A Flip of Destiny’, ‘London Dreams’ and ‘Action Replayy’. ‘Mod’ will see him as a hero for the first time.
