BANGALORE: Fifteen days after BMTC said it will take a long hard look at its Metro Feeder Service, its efforts seem to have paid off. Chief Traffic Manager (Operations) M P Prabhudas has stated that the services are earning around `1 lakh a day, for the past 16 days with a daily passenger count of over 8,000.BMTC had recently revamped its Metro Feeder Service which was facing a huge loss with meagre earnings of `30,000 per day and a passenger count of 1,000.This below standard performance had forced BMTC to extend a few services and increase their frequency to one bus in every 5 minutes since commuters had complained of low frequency of buses on popular routes. This shows that BMTC’s plan to finally focus on providing the last mile connectivity seems to be bearing fruits.“The connectivity is much better since the past few weeks, the service is also more dependable,” said Shiva, a commuter on the MG MF2 route. BMTC MD KR Sreenivas stated that it is too early to make any prediction about the success of the service.“We will watch and study for a few more days before predicting. The new routes are operational since a few days only and we cannot draw conclusions,” he said.
