New Delhi: After the Sunday blasts that killed 67 people on Samjhauta Express, 105 more passengers boarded the link train at Attari for Pakistan on Tuesday.
While over 600 passengers boarded the train from Delhi, the bus service to Lahore left the capital for its Pakistani destination early Tuesday morning.
With 46 passengers on board, the bus departed amidst tight security, a day after two powerful explosions ripped through the trans-border Samjhauta Express.
29 Pakistani nationals and 19 Indians boarded the fully air-conditioned Sada-e-Sarhad bus which left for Lahore from Ambedkar Stadium bus terminal in Central Delhi.
Remarkably, the blasts have failed to make any impact on number passengers taking either a bus journey or a train to Pakistan.
Passengers were frisked and baggages thoroughly scanned before the bus left the station. The bomb disposal squad also conducted a thorough check. Security personnel were also deployed in huge numbers.
Put together, 724 passengers - 479 Pakistani nationals and 245 Indian nationals - crossed over from Attari to Wagah on their way to Lahore, according to latest figures made available by the external affairs ministry.
Out of 724 passengers who were finally able to cross over to Pakistan, 619 of them boarded the train from Delhi, on the Delhi-Attari Special while 105 joined them at Attari on the main Samjhauta Express.
The external affairs ministry has posted the list of the 724 passengers on its website www.meaindia.nic.in.
