CHENNAI: The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra (SCO), the oldest professional chamber orchestra in the world, will perform for the first time in Chennai on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at 6.30pm at Sir Mutha Venkatasubbarao Concert Hall. Twenty seven musicians will play Corelli, Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart and Grieg. Michael Hofstetter has been the principal conductor of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra from September 2006. He develops together with the orchestra a wide chamber music repertoire – from Baroque and Classic to world premieres and orders for new compositions.Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra’s first disc recordings date back to the year 1948. They account for one of the most successful orchestra biographies of post-war Germany at that time. A comprehensive discography was created and the recordings won various awards (among others, the Grand Prix du Disque). Millions of sound recordings have since been sold worldwide. Mozart´s Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) alone was awarded with the “Golden Record” for over one million copies.The event management specialists, Purple Reign are organising this programme in association with Goethe Institute ( Max Muller Bhavan ).The tickets are priced at `600 / 1000 / 2000 / 3000 and are available at Landmark and Odyssey.
