Mumbai: A 32-year-old man, who allegedly cheated several Bollywood personalities, politicians and industrialists by posing as the son of Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi, has been arrested from suburban Andheri. Accused Vijay Dwivedi, who posed as the son of the politician, used to get into high-profile circles and used various methods to dupe the people he met.
Interestingly, during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, Dwivedi had even called up a Congress leader and got a few passes to the India-Pakistan hockey match, saying he was Dwivedi's son, police said. Police had earlier received complaints from a prominent production house as well as from a politician,
following which, police kept a watch on Dwivedi movements.
When he was identified as the person who had been duping people, he was arrested from a building in Andheri's Lokhandwala Complex on Thursday, police said. He was produced before a local court on Friday, which remanded him in police custody till October 16, police said adding that they would call the victims to the crime branch as part of the investigation.
