Various cultural programmes are also arranged in the Town Square as part of the race.Lok Sabha speaker Meera Kumar will inaugurate the race. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Union Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal, Tourism Minister A P Anilkumar and other state ministers, MPs and MLAs will participate in the function.The race of snake boats will be flagged off at 3.15 pm and the prize distribution for the winners will be conducted at 5.30 pm. The tickets worth Rs 12 lakh have already been sold by various government departments functioning in five districts. As many as 1800 policemen including 12 DySPs and 26 circle inspectors and 300 sub-inspectors will be deployed in the venue. There will be  medical teams led by doctors and a quick response team of the police, to handle any emergency. District Superintendent of Police K G James will lead the police team.Seating arrangements have been made for as many as 17,000 people for watching the boat race. Nehru Pavilion has been reserved for VVIP’s and VIP’s. Pavilion for the people, who have bought tickets worth Rs 2,000, Rs 1,000, Rs 5,00 and Rs 30 has been arranged on the main land. The people should reach this pavilion throughthe road leading to the finishing point.
