HYDERABAD: Based on certain inputs that former all India president of the proscribed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) Syed Salahuddin Salar may have had links with the terror modules operating in Kerala, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) grilled the 40yearold on Thursday. It is understood to have got some more leads about the terror modules.
Salar, who belongs to Nalgonda district, is presently lodged in Cherlapally central prison. He was allegedly involved in the Sai Baba temple blast at Dilsukhnagar in November 2002.Sources told Express that the NIA team took special permission from the court to grill Salar inside the prison. "The NIA sought to know about his links with fundamentalists and some exSIMI members operating in Kerala. He has given some leads," sources said.

Salar, who is a civil engineer by profession, reportedly provided some names of exSIMI cadres in Kerala, who, sources said, could have joined hands with some terror groups, particularly the Indian Mujahideen.

Investigators said Abdul Bari alias Abu Hamza, a LashkareTaiba operative, who is still absconding, had masterminded the Sai Baba temple blast and it was alleged that Salar too had a role in it.

"Their intention is to bring back the youth to Kerala to carry out terror attacks," sources said, adding that the NIA has got certain leads in the case.
