SABARIMALA: Nine Sabarimala pilgrims were injured, one of them seriously, when the Jeep in which they were travelling from Vandiperiyar lost control and fell into 20-ft ditch at Planthode, near Chalakyam, in Pampa at 7.15 am on Saturday. Aji, 24, the driver of the vehicle, Plamala Puthenveedu in Vandiperiyar, who suffered serious head injuries, was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hopsital.The other injured, who were admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital, include Mohandas, 52, Arya Raju, 10, Akhil Krishna, 5, Chandrasekharan, 32, Sureshkumar, 24, Rajesh, 40, Saji, 40, and Marimuthu, 45. The doctors attending on them said the condition of the injured, except the driver, was out of danger. Cine star Jayaram: Cine star Jayaram led the symbolic cleaing operation, “Punyam Poonakavanam” programme at Sannidhanam on Saturday. Jayaram, who had darsan of Lord Ayyappa during usha pooja, spent half-an-hour with the cleaning operation. Police special officer T Gopalakrishna Pillai and Devaswom executive officer M Satheeshkumar were present on the occasion.
