Bangladeshi author regarded as trouble by state governments.

New Delhi: Controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen has become extra baggage that no one seems to want.

After the West Bengal shoved her out of the state saying she was injurious to the peace and security in the state, it seems now that the Rajasthan government does not want her either.

Last heard, Nasreen was sent away from Jaipur to Delhi with the Rajasthan government stating she did not have the requisite documents to be allowed in the state.

Now, even as the national capital expects the author – provided Y grade security by the Delhi police – to arrive at 9 pm, latest reports suggest that the Rajasthan government was not even informed of the author being packed off to Jaipur.

In a letter faxed to the Union Home Ministry by the Rajasthan Home Minister at 2 pm Thursday, it was stated that the Rajasthan state police had not been intimated of the author’s arrival in advance.

The Rajasthan government says they were given “no alternative but to host Taslima due to reluctance of the West Bengal government to take her back.”

According to latest reports, the Rajasthan government has now sought the intervention of the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding her stay and security in Rajasthan.

Sources say the Rajasthan government was purportedly told that Nasreen was already on board without any prior intimation or consultation. Apparently, the DGP Rajasthan was told by the DGP West Bengal that Nasreen was to attend a literary event in Jaipur.

However, on cross checking no such literary event was found to be taking place. Sources in Rajasthan government allege that Nasreen had no passport and is being ferried across the country only on a residence permit from the FRRO.

With her impending arrival in the national capital, it’s ponderable if Delhi will host the author or if she would be refused asylum in the city as well. The decision to send her back from Rajasthan was apparently taken by the state’s chief minister on Wednesday.
