Mumbai: A 23-year-old waiter working in a Mumbai hotel attacked an NRI customer with a knife on Sunday, allegedly because she placed multiple orders during the meal.
The accused, identified as Nishant Gowda, was later arrested by Andheri police.
Thirty-year-old Farzana Mirat, who had come to India from South Africa on Sunday morning and was celebrating her anniversary the same day, suffered a cut on her neck, said a report in Hindustan Times.
The police said Mirat went to a hotel in JB Nagar with her mother on Sunday and ordered for a couple of things and called the waiter some six-seven times. After that, they also ordered a cake.
Gowda brought the cake but without the knife. Mirat then asked him to get her a knife quickly.
According to the police, Gowda was irked by the manner in which Mirat was calling him and placing the orders. When she asked for a knife, he went into the kitchen without saying anything. "He returned with the knife but instead of giving it to Mirat, he attacked her with it," a police officer was quoted as saying.
Gowda was arrested and booked under section 326 of the IPC.
